Cambridge: a city in which it is a delight to live. One of the most beautiful historic cities, with medieval buildings around every corner, sweeping expanses of green space and the sparkling waters of the River Cam flowing through the city centre - a waterway that has always been the focus of the leisure and sporting life of the city.
Cambridge is, of course, a famous university city and a vibrant and cosmopolitan place to live, offering something to suit everyone, from bars and restaurants, to ‘art house’ and mainstream cinemas, the Arts and ADC theatres and the world renowned Fitzwilliam Museum and Kettle’s Yard Art Gallery. You can tour the historic colleges on your doorstep or enjoy the beautiful ‘Backs’ while punting down the River Cam. For sports enthusiasts the city has a number of rowing, tennis and health clubs, as well as a range of swimming pools and golf courses. Green spaces and parks nearby include Jesus Green with its open air swimming pool and tennis courts, Midsummer Common and, closest of all, Christ’s Pieces.
There is impressive shopping on offer literally all around Christ’s View, from the brand new Christ’s Lane, to the Grand Arcade opening in the spring of 2008, Lion Yard and, five minutes’ walk across Christ’s Pieces, the Grafton Shopping Centre. In addition there is a thriving open-air market daily and many independent shops and boutiques to be found down the surrounding historic streets.
The mainline railway station and bus station are within walking distance and the capital is around 45 minutes by rail. The East Coast and the Midlands motorway network are easily accessible via the A14 and the M11 provides direct links to London and Stanstead Airport.
